Work Begins On Draft Nadi Declaration

The joint council of ACP Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of ACP member countries met at Denarau, Nadi, today in a plenary session aimed at discussing the various elements that will constitute the drafting of the Nadi declaration.

These elements include economic and political issues, and also issues of global concerns and debt issues.

The session was chaired by Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Mr. Kaliopate Tavola, who said the joint council has approved the draft agenda and programme for the ACP Summit that will begin tomorrow.

“We are now at the drafting committee stages for the draft Nadi declaration,” Mr. Tavola said.

The plenary agreed to the convening of the drafting committee that will draft the Nadi declaration.

Mr. Tavola said the drafting committee will take into account the various views expressed in the plenary and reflect it accurately in the draft Nadi declaration,

The draft Nadi declaration will be approved first by the joint council tomorrow morning before the start of the Summit proper.
