Leading motor dealers in the country are leasing out their latest state of the art vehicles to Government, for the forthcoming 3rd Summit African Carribean Pacific Conference to be held on July 19th.
A total number of 148 motor vehicles are being provided by motor dealers such as Asco Motors, Niranjan Autoport, Carpenters Motors and Euro Cars.
Vehicles leased out will also consist of twin cabs, 5 mini buses and 5 mini vans.
The motor vehicles leased from the private car dealers will be returned and resold once the conference is over.
"These vehicles will help in shuttling the delegates from the airport upon their arrival to the Sheraton Fiji and within the Nadi area only," said a spokesperson of the ACP Secretariat.
In terms of the extra luggage expected from some of the delegates, twin cabs, mini buses and mini vans will be utilised for these purpose.
It is believed that should there be a need to hire buses, companies like Rosy Tours and Motibhai have offered to assist in these areas.
Other private companies and persons who own suitable VIP type motor vehicles such as Mercedes and 4 wheel drive have been approached and their vehicles taken to Public Works Department for car pennants.
According to the ACP spokesperson, there has been no word as yet from the Shell Company as to their confirmation in supplying $10,000 worth of fuel as their contribution to the Summit.
Drivers for these vehicles have been brought in from the military, Government departments and ministries.
