The Planning and Organising Committee for International Meetings (POCIM) was today (8/02) briefed on the upcoming ACP Heads of States Summit by Fijis Ambassador to the European Union, Isikeli Mataitoga.
The African Caribbean-Pacific Summit, expected to be held in September, will be one of the biggest meetings to be hosted in Fiji.
Mr. Mataitoga said everything possible must be done to ensure that the summit is a success.
In total, 78 countries are expected to send representatives to the Summit.
The POCIM is made up of officials from various Ministries and departments, and is chaired by the Acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Taina Tagicakibau.
The Committee is also organising the hosting of the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum, which will be preceded by the ACP Head of States Summit in August.
